After We’re Gonna Die, catch a line-up of up-and-coming storytellers, poets, and stand-up comics performing work inspired by the themes of We’re Gonna Die. Co-hosted by Erich Haygun and Anthony Febo, this event also features Carissa Halston, Wes Hazard, Gary Peterson, Tooky Kavanagh, Srilatha Rajamani, and Princess Moon.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Erich Hagun is a 2015 National Poetry Slam Champion representing The House Slam, the first poetry slam venue located in his hometown Boston, MA. He has performed his writing throughout North America & Europe, and has recently shared stages with Mary Lambert & Jinkx Monsoon. Erich is proud to be Program Director of the youth publishing non-profit Books Of Hope, as well as a facilitator & speaker for the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, and producer of the variety show CHEAP SEATS.

Anthony Febo is a poet, actor, youth worker, lover and friend. He founded Mill City Slam, the adult slam poetry scene, and M.O.M.S. the Middlesex/UMass Lowell college slam poetry scene in 2010. Along side his fellow partners in rhyme, in 2009 he founded FreeVerse!, a youth organization dedicated to expand the presence of spoken word in the city of Lowell. He is a lover of theatre and art, a strong believer that poetry is something we live, and a pretty good dancer.

Carissa Halston writes stories about gender, sex, death, isolation, and the things we love alongside the things we live with. Her award-winning fiction has appeared in Fourteen Hills, Willow Springs, The Massachusetts Review, and elsewhere. She runs a small press called Aforementioned, edits a literary journal called apt, and is at work on a novel called Conjoined States and a short story collection called Emergency Exit.

Wes Hazard was named as one of “5 Boston Comedians to Watch” by The Boston Globe Magazine. A writer and storyteller as well as comedian, Wes brings wit, energy and honesty to the stage, qualities that have made him a regular performer in Boston venues as well as at The Boston Comedy Festival and The Women in Comedy Festival. Wes is a multiple-time winner on The Moth StorySLAM stage and he’s appeared as a guest on the Comedy Bang! Bang! Live! podcast – based on the critically-acclaimed IFC television show — with Scott Aukerman & Paul F. Tompkins. He wishes you only the best.

Gary Peterson is a breath of fresh air. Whether it’s performing stand-up comedy or screaming at children in malls, Gary Petersen draws in crowds of all types. Grounded in punk rock morals mixed with jazz dance rhythms, the vicious ridiculousness of his own life is highlighted. Gary delights in bringing humor out of the light, the dark and everything in between, even stuff that’s slightly in the shade, or both in the shade and kind of peeking out of it in some parts. Also, he will wear a cap to conceal his baldness if that makes you feel more comfortable.

Tooky Kavanagh speaks her mind with honesty, charisma, and the edge of a jaded playwright. After only two years on the scene, Tooky, with her Hebrew/Irish name (and fantastic hair weave!) has already performed all over  the northeast. She can be seen regularly at venues such as The Comedy Studio, ImprovBoston, and Laugh Boston. Also,she’s the one who described her own charm as “ineffable,” but it’s still true!

Srilatha Rajamani, tech nerd, born and raised in India is a Cambridge, MA based stand up comedian and has been performing in in Boston and the New England area for three years. When she is not doing comedy, she likes anime and Korean pop and writes mildly erotic fan fiction about them. Her family in India is not aware of these shenanigans.

Princess Moon is a first generation Cambodian-American poet, teaching artist, and award-winning community organizer. Her work unearths conversations with ancestral spirits, exposes trauma left by the ghosts of violent men, and explores the hauntingly beautiful journey of finding one’s self. Her poetry is published in Young Angel Midnight: An Anthology of Emerging Artists and grumpy shower.
